7. Parasailing Excursions In Turks And Caicos

Parasailing needs no introduction so we’ll just share our experience. Myself being afraid of heights and not a good swimmer, you can imagine how anxious I was to do this excursion for the first time. Byron, of course, raring to go!

I can now honestly say, without a doubt, it's an incredible feeling being high in the sky overlooking the turquoise water and seeing dolphins playing near the reef! We've since “flown” more than once and we'll keep doing it each visit, making it one of our many favorite excursions in Turks and caicos!

We've had fantastic experiences with the crew from Key To The Sea Parasailing. You can book a public tour, where they'll pick you up on the beach, or private tours, should you wish to head off with just your group of friends or family. This flexibility makes it a great option to enjoy both the excursion and boat tour in Providenciales.

Safety comes first, so you will be outfitted with lifejackets. The crew will steady you as you make your way to the harness and get you safely hooked up and feeling comfortable before flight. Then it’s up and away you go!

You can access Key To The Sea through these links or keep your eyes out for the crew along Grace Bay Beach. They are easily spotted in their florescent t-shirts branded with the company name.

If you're booking with any of the parasailing companies directly from the beach, we'd recommend negotiating and agreeing on price before you board. We haven't heard of any outrageous stories of price jacking, but always best to agree ahead of time.

Duration – Approximately a 1 hour tour with multiple couples. Each flight is around 12-15 minutes.

Price – Typically $75.00 USD (+tax). For passengers who don’t wish to fly, we know that Key To The Sea only charges $20.00 USD for the trip.

8. Potcake Place K9 Rescue

We realize this doesn’t fall under the category of Turks and Caicos excursions, but If you’re an animal lover, this is for you! Potcake Place K-9 Rescue is a non profit rescue organization operated solely by volunteers. The volunteers rescue stray puppies and kitties throughout The Island and give them a chance at a forever home. They %100 rely on tourists to help socialize these little bundles of fun!

Potcake Place is located in The Salt Mills Plaza in central Grace Bay. You line up in the morning (we recommend you go much earlier than when the rescue opens for a better chance of getting a puppy) you get assigned a puppy along with a beach bag of treats, toys, poop bags, water and a bowl. Then you get to take the puppy to the beach!!!

They’ll play with you in the water, nap with you on your beach towel, nip at your feet and all the other great things puppies do! They are the most popular kids on the beach, quite the attention grabbers! It’s honestly one of our favorite things to do in Turks and Caicos.

After a few hours they’re tired out and it’s time to go back to the rescue for baths and naps. It’s such a wonderful activity to partake in.

Price – FREE! All that's required is your time, some kisses and some belly rubs.

Duration – 2 to 3 hours, depending on how tired out your puppy is.

9. La Famille Shipwreck Tours In Turks And Caicos

While this shipwreck isn't necessarily a proper “tour”, it sure ranks high among adventure seekers and therefore, we had to add it to our epic excursions in Turks and Caicos list.

In 2004, in the aftermath of Hurricane Frances, this large freighter broke loose from its mooring and drifted out to sea. Today, the La Famille rests perfectly erect off the south shores of Providenciales. It has become a popular landmark for those who are looking for a little more adventure during their vacation.

BE AWARE – You will need a mode of transportation to get out to the wreck so we suggest you rent a guided jet ski tour or book a boat tour. PLEASE DO NOT GO ALONE. The guides are familiar with the ship and they know what areas are safe and which areas to avoid. You don’t want to get injured on your vacation.

We recommend you take water shoes for while on board the shipwreck. Also, depending on the tide, it may not be safe to jump off the ship.

Oh yes, did you catch that? You can jump off the shipwreck! OH YA!! This was a bucket list excursion for Byron and I a few years ago and what a thrill (albeit a terrifying one) it was!

While the jump from the bow was no bother to Byron, it took me a good twenty minutes to finally jump. But let me tell you, it was incredible! I can't swim (had a life vest) and I'm afraid of heights so this was a huge deal for me! Dare I say, I might even do it again?

Jet ski tours are typically open to all ages, however, there are age restrictions on those who are eligible to operate the jet skis. 17 years of age may operate the jet ski, or 15 years of age if they are the passenger of an adult.

Duration – Varies between companies.

Price – $180.00 USD (+tax) and up, depending on which company or tour you book.

10. Love Buggy Tour Or ATV Tour

Not that you'll ever get tired of floating in the glorious turquoise waters of Providenciales or sipping cocktails on the pool deck, but perhaps you're looking for a Turks and Caicos excursion that's more “off roady” and rugged than what our epic excursions list has already covered.

If that's the case, an ATV Tour or the ever popular Love Buggy Tour is a fantastic way to explore parts of The Island, especially if you're not renting a car. You'll discover some spectacular sites in remote places of Providenciales you might not otherwise find if you were touring by yourself.

Places like Split Rock and Pirates Cove, Malcolms Beach,The Caves and Prince's Purple Driveway are some of the areas many off roading tours will take you. These destinations are often missed in typical Turks and Caicos tours, offering a different perspective of the island's natural beauty. Be sure to inquire about where each tour will take you to ensure you get the most out of this excursion.

Always do your research and book with a certified company to ensure you're in the safest hands. All safety equipment is provided. These tours travel as a group around The Island, on main roads to more remote gravel roads. For your safety, you will be with a guide at all times.

Most ATV tours require drivers to be 18 with proof of valid driver's license. Many tours allow younger kids as passengers but please check when booking. Love Buggy tour allows kids 3 and up as passengers.

Duration – Tour length varies between companies so double check your excursion length before booking to ensure you pick the best option for you and/or your group.

Price – $128.00 USD (+tax) and up. Higher prices generally equal a longer excursion so prices will vary depending on tour length.

Love Buggy Island Tour

It's always so fun to see these little red buggies scooting around Providenciales.

Typically this tour spends half a day exploring Providenciales. Plenty of stops at landmarks and other historical points of interest. Keep your cameras at the ready for some spectacular along the way. A light lunch stop is also provided with the Love Buggy Tour,

11. Learn To Kiteboard

If your goal is to learn how to to kiteboard in Turks and Caicos, you've picked the perfect location. Long Bay Beach is a Kite Boarders paradise! Being a little windier on this stretch of beach, it's the ideal location for kite boarding beginners and pro's alike.

With a vast stretch of beach and being approximately only 3 feet deep for a great distance offshore, it's a perfect spot to learn to “Kite”.

There's plenty of room for everyone to safely spend a great day in the water. If you're interested in giving Kite Boarding a try, there's a few operations set up on the beach that can answer all your questions.

They are dedicated to provide a fun and safe learning experience, so that you can enjoy your time on the water as much as possible.

The instructors have years of experience teaching people of all ages and skill level. They have a passion for what they do and go out of their way to ensure everyone has an amazing time during their stay.
