Are There Fast Food Restaurants In Turks And Caicos?

If you're expecting to see the golden arches of McDonald's or the familiar face of Colonel Sanders from KFC, you're in for a surprise. Unlike other tropical vacation destinations like Aruba or Jamaica, Turks and Caicos doesn't host any of the traditional fast food chains you might be accustomed to. But don't let this be a disappointment—we'll be sharing plenty of delicious alternatives and suggestions throughout this article.

Now, you might be wondering why there are no fast food restaurants in Turks and Caicos. While we can't say for certain, we have a theory that's worth sharing. One of the unique aspects of Turks and Caicos is that it isn't lined with multiple all inclusive resorts. This creates prime dining opportunities on the island. If most visitors are dining off site, it makes sense to favor local eateries over international fast food chains. This approach not only supports local businesses but also encourages visitors to step out of their comfort zones and explore local cuisines.

Could this be the reason why you won't find traditional fast food outlets here? Maybe, maybe not. But what we can say is that this absence adds a layer of uniqueness to Turks and Caicos that you won't find in many other places.

Fast Food Alternatives In Turks And Caicos

While you won't find the traditional fast food chains you're used to, don't fret! Turks and Caicos offers its own unique selection of quick and convenient food options that are sure to satisfy your cravings. From our experience, here are a few examples of places we've dined at that offer quick (or at least quick for island time) eats in and around Grace Bay.

A note on pricing: As you likely know by now, Turks and Caicos is an expensive island. While the options we're about to share are convenient alternatives, don't expect to find many “combo” prices like you would at traditional fast food restaurants. Budget accordingly!

Food Trucks In Turks and Caicos

RoostersRoosters food truck offers you fried chicken, chicken burgers and hamburgers and fries. The usual suspects for a good take away. They tend to run out of fried chicken quickly so make sure to go early to enjoy all they have to to offer.

Coco Van – Coco Van Airstream Lounge (located in the Coco Bistro parking lot) is next level food truck dining. Be fully prepared for some high end dishes with a comfort food twist. If we're talking about fast food, we have to mention their Big Mac Egg Rolls. They taste more like a Big Mac than a Big Mac! Their menu changes often but it's always full of incredible fine dining eats.

Local Quick Take Out Restaurants

Tribe – Tribe is a healthy take out option that does not scrimp on heartiness or flavor. Be hungry if you're going to pick up a sandwich from Tribe.

Tribe makes everything from scratch, it's organic, it's healthy and it's so, so delicious. We personally love the curry chicken salad sandwich and the vegetarian sandwich (we're not vegetarian, but it's so good).

Tribe is an alternative to fast food restaurants in Turks and Caicos. this picture has two to go boxes filled with artisan sandwiches, kettle chips, veggies and a tub of hummus.

The Patty PlaceThe Patty Place is known for their mouth watering Jamaican savory meat or vegetarian pies. They are quick, they are incredibly delicious and best of all, they are cheap! You can also a variety of sides and ice cream along with your pies. Definitely worth a visit.

Sweet T's Fried Chicken Hut – Sweet T's is likely the closest to a traditional fast food restaurant in Turks and Caicos. We must note, it's NOT located in Grace Bay. Sweet T's is known for it's chicken wings. If you're a chicken wing lover, you'll for sure want to make the trip. If you've rented a car and heading out for a picnic over at Sapodilla or Taylor Bay, it's a quick detour for some cheap eats. You can get a value pack of fried chicken wings and fries for under $10.00, which is pretty cheap for Providenciales!

Coffee Shops With To Go Options

Lemon2Go and Beans and Leaves are two coffee shops in Grace Bay that serve ready made and made to order quick bites such as sandwiches, salads and paninis. These are perfect if you're looking for some quick and light bites to take to the beach.

Grocery Store Take Out Options

The Graceway gourmet is the main grocery store in the heart of Grace Bay. And it often gets overlooked for being a great spot to grab a quick bite to eat.

The deli section at Graceway Gourmet is fabulous. It serves both hot and cold ready made meals and also has a fresh salad bar. You'll find the daily specials listed on the wall should you need to plan ahead for your schedule.

There are always plenty of local business folks lining up here for lunch which to us, is always a good sign of a great place to eat! This is also where we like to pick up some fried chicken for our beach picnics.

Pack A Sand Proof Beach Blanket

Keep your take away meal sand free with this travel size sand proof and waterproof beach blanket. Easily packs in your luggage and keeps the sandy mess out of your beach picnics.

Full Restaurant Take Away Options

Sometimes, after a long day soaking up the sun or exploring the island, all you want to do is grab some food and head back to your resort or villa. Maybe you're even planning a picnic on the beach. You're in luck! Many of the more casual restaurants in the Grace Bay area are happy to accommodate take away orders.

Planning Ahead

Just a heads up: be sure to plan ahead and leave time for your order to be prepped. While some places may take orders over the phone, it's not a guarantee. You may have to go in to order and wait. And don't expect this service from the high end dining establishments in the area. Be reasonable with your expectations.

Personal Recommendations

Based on our experience, here are a few places where we've ordered meals to go that hit the spot. There are others, this list is just those that we have personally experienced. Be sure to ask your resort concierge for others, or simply pop in to your desired restaurant and they’ll let you know.

Food Delivery Services On The Island

While it's not common for most restaurants in Turks and Caicos to offer delivery, a few in the Grace Bay area have started to provide this service. It's a convenient option if you're looking to enjoy a meal without leaving your resort or villa. However, it's always a good idea to check with the restaurant beforehand to confirm the services they offer.
