It’s easy to see why Grace Bay Beach has been named the best beach in the world numerous times! With miles of powder soft sand and incredible turquoise water, this beach is like no other. You'll easily spend most of you time on Grace Bay Beach during your first visit.
But if you’re anything like us, you’ll make it your mission to see every beach this Island has to offer. For now, we’ll share with our experience of seeing Grace Bay Beach for the first time.

As you know, when we landed in Turks and Caicos we were awestruck. And that was before we even made it off the plane! We finally collected ourselves and our baggage and headed off to The Alexandra Resort. Our home away from home for the next two weeks. Still a little anxious about what the accommodations would be like. Would our rooms be the same as the website photos or were those old photos? Was it run down now? You know, the usual “what if’s” when you head to a new place.
We arrived at our hotel and immediately greeted with a welcome drink, Rum Punch of course! Safe to say those worries were long gone now. We still had a little time before we could check in so the manager made us another cocktail. Happy Days! He offered to keep our bags and told us to go have a look around the resort and head to the beach.
This is the moment that has stuck with me all these years. And one of the many reasons we go back to Turks and Caicos time and time again.
Out the back of the reception area we walked onto the deck that led to the beach. We came to the top of stairs at the end of the boardwalk. And we finally saw what was ours for the next two weeks.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. I just stood and cried! I actually cried! I was so overwhelmed with emotion in that moment. I could not believe I was standing where I was. Even with all the Caribbean travel we’d done to this point, nothing prepared me for the endless beauty that was literally at our feet.
No sooner was I ready to just crumble and be a big sap, when Byron, in true Byron style says “Well, I’m not standing around here just lookin at it, I’m goin in!” That was that sorted!
Off we went trudging through the ridiculously soft (and hot) sand. The sand is so deep we were puffing by the time we hit the water. We stood on the shore and looked left and right, we were in the middle of paradise. Miles and miles in both directions was nothing but crystal clear turquoise water and white beaches. We looked back at the hotel and were giddy with excitement about what was to come for the next two weeks.

We decided to take a stroll to the left. Still in our travel clothes, jeans and leggings rolled up, flip flops in hand as we doddled along the shoreline with the warm water splashing at our feet. Yes warm! Like 85 degrees warm! Did this place get any better? Didn’t appear so! Everyone we passed giving a nod or saying hello as though they could tell we were “newbies” to The Island. What gave it away? HA! But that made us realize something else. As we walked along the beach, there weren’t a lot of people. Not crowded like beaches we had been to before. Where the beach beds are lined up for days and you’re making a path to get through people, or your dodging footballs and sand castles. There simply weren’t any crowds at all. This was heaven.
Don’t get us wrong, there’s plenty to do on Grace Bay Beach. Our minds taking mental notes of all the things we were going to try in the coming weeks. Snorkelling, jet skis, paddle boarding, kayaking just to name a few. Para-sails flying way up high, oh the view… The though of never leaving had already crossed our minds several times by this point.
It was time to head back for check in and get this party started! But first, what’s the rush? Lets have a drink at the beach bar!
