Wondering which beaches in Turks and Caicos to visit on your first trip? This guide shares the most popular beaches in Turks and Caicos and highlights the five you’ll definitely want to add to your itinerary.
Grace Bay Beach might be the beach that put Turks and Caicos on the map, but there are several other popular beaches in Turks and Caicos that first-time visitors shouldn’t miss.
There’s no shortage of incredible beaches across the Turks and Caicos Islands, some of the best beaches in Turks and Caicos can be found right on Providenciales. Since most visitors start their adventures on Providenciales, that’s where we’ll begin too.
We know that every beach in Turks and Caicos seems more beautiful than the last, but for this post, we’re focusing on the most popular beaches in Providenciales, to help first-time visitors get a feel for what the island has to offer.
We’re sharing the five most popular beaches you need to add to your lazy beach days. What makes each one special and how to choose the right beach for your trip. You’ll also find a Turks and Caicos beach map below to help you plan your days.
Quick Tips For Enjoying The Beaches Of Turks And Caicos
Before we jump into the list, here are a few quick tips to help you make the most of your beach days on Provo.
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen. Not only is it better for your skin, it helps protect the coral reefs that make this part of the world so special.
- Pack cash. Some vendors and beachside services don’t take cards, so a few small bills go a long way if you want to grab a drink, rent a chair, or tip a local.
- Don’t forget water and shade. Not all beaches have facilities, so we always recommend bringing extra water and something for shade, especially if you’re heading out with kids.
- Download WhatsApp. If you’ve taken a taxi to get to one of the beaches below, know that everyone communicates via WhatsApp, so download it before you go for easy pick-up and drop-off info with your driver.
- All beaches in Turks and Caicos are public, so you can visit any stretch of sand on the island (within reason of course).
5 Most Popular Beaches In Turks And Caicos
After over a decade of visiting these islands, we’ve learned that every beach here has its moment. Some are perfect for long swims and plenty of beach bars nearby, others for snorkeling or just floating the afternoon away.
We put this guide together to help you plan your time wisely, so you can experience the best of Providenciales without missing a thing.

Grace Bay Beach
Quick Overview
This is the beach that gets all the press and for good reason. Grace Bay Beach is the most famous beach in Turks and Caicos and often tops the list of the best beaches in the Caribbean. It’s often the answer to the question, “What is the best beach in Turks and Caicos?”, and once you see it, you’ll understand why. Miles of calm water, and soft sand with that unreal turquoise water you’ve heard about.
Ideal For
Families, couples, resort stays, beach walkers/runners, swimmers, loungers.
Amenities & Highlights
Public beach access points, chair and umbrella rentals in some areas, nearby resorts and restaurants, walkable to bars, shops, and unlimited activities.
Why We Love It
Even though Turks and Caicos is growing fast, Grace Bay Beach never feels crowded. It’s wide, open, and always has space to stretch out and relax. You’re close to so many great spots to grab lunch or a cold drink, and floating around with a rum punch in hand is pretty much a perfect afternoon. Rickie’s, our favorite beach bar, is right here too. It’s casual, local, and always a good time.

Bight Beach
Quick Overview
Just west of Grace Bay, Bight Beach is one of the most active spots for snorkeling straight off the sand. With The Reef right offshore at Coral Gardens Resort, it’s a top choice for families and beginner snorkelers looking to see fish and marine life without needing to head out on an excursion.
Ideal For
Families, first-time snorkelers, laid-back beach days, full-day setups.
Amenities & Highlights
Beach bar and restaurant access (including Somewhere Café), chair rentals, public restrooms nearby, shallow water entry, easy snorkeling right off the beach.
Why We Love It
We love setting up for the day at Bight Beach. It’s right next to Somewhere Café, so even if you don’t pack snacks, you’ve got drinks and eats just steps away. Plus you can catch “the game” with an awesome view. The reef is so close to shore that it’s perfect for building your confidence before heading out to the main reef on a tour.

Smith’s Reef
Quick Overview
Smith’s Reef is one of the best shore snorkeling spots in Turks and Caicos in our opinion. Located near Turtle Cove, this stretch of coastline has a couple of access points and tons of underwater life. You’ll spot turtles, rays, and tons of colorful reef fish.
Ideal For
Snorkelers, turtle spotters, relaxed afternoons away from the main drag, marine-life lovers.
Amenities & Highlights
Small parking areas, a few access paths, minimal crowds, strong marine life visibility, no chair or food vendors so bring your beach day set up.
Why We Love It
We go here when we want a calmer social vibe but still want to snorkel without having to trek across the island. You’re almost guaranteed to spot turtles and rays, and it feels less busy than the Grace Bay area. It’s one of those spots where you can do your own thing and still have an incredible experience. Just be mindful of boat traffic and know that the water can be a little stronger than in the heart of Grace Bay.

Sapodilla Bay Beach
Quick Overview
Located on the south side of Providenciales, Sapodilla Bay is known for its calm, incredibly shallow water that feels like bath water in the summer months. It’s a favorite for families with small kids or anyone who just wants to float around and soak up the sun.
Ideal For
Young families, calm water lovers, sun bathing, hanging with the local vendors.
Amenities & Highlights
Beach vendors, chair and umbrella rentals, jet ski rentals, easy parking, restaurants nearby including Las Brisas, access to Sapodilla Hill lookout.
Why We Love It
We love to explore beyond the beach here and climb up the makeshift steps to Sapodilla Hill for the views. Back at the beach, we run and jump off the pier or find a quiet spot further along when the vendor area gets busy. It’s definitely grown in popularity over the years, but it’s still one of our favorite places to spend a sunny afternoon.

Long Bay Beach
Quick Overview
Located on the southeast side of Providenciales, Long Bay Beach is known for steady trade winds (it’s the windy side of the island) and shallow waters that stretch out forever. It’s a hot spot for kiteboarding beginners and pros alike, with plenty of open space both in and out of the water.
Ideal For
Kiteboarders, water sports lovers, laid-back explorers, villa stays, adventure seekers.
Amenities & Highlights
Public access point at The Shore Club end, plenty of parking, wide open beach, great for walking and wading, limited services so come prepared.
Why We Love It
When we feel like changing things up, we head to Long Bay to watch the action. There’s always a great group of people taking a break from kiting, and they’re full of stories and laughs. It’s a fun, relaxed energy, and even if you’re not out on the water, it’s a great place to hang out and enjoy something a little different with a cold beer. Plus, this stretch of beach is where you’ll spot our favorite excursion out on the water, Provo Ponies!
